Space Fight

I built this cool 2D Unity game (PC ONLY) as an individual project in my Game Design course in college, and it was an exhilarating journey from start to finish. As a newcomer to Unity, every aspect of the development process was a learning experience that I thoroughly enjoyed.

The game, titled "Space Fighters," is a testament to my passion for all things space-related (Interstellar is my favorite movie haha). It features three action-packed levels of intergalactic combat, each presenting unique challenges and enemies for players to overcome.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was learning to create and implement spritesheets. This process allowed me to bring my vision of sleek spaceships and cosmic environments to life. Animating characters was another exciting challenge that taught me a lot about creating fluid, responsive game elements.

Programming the game mechanics was where I really got to flex my creative muscles. I implemented features like ship movement, weapon systems, and enemy AI. Each of these elements required careful consideration and plenty of trial and error, but the satisfaction of seeing them work seamlessly together was unparalleled.

A particularly memorable part of the development process was an unexpected challenge in level 2 - an invisible enemy ship. While initially a bug, I decided to embrace it as a feature, adding an extra layer of difficulty and surprise for players. This experience taught me the value of adaptability in game design and how sometimes, unintended elements can enhance the gaming experience.

Creating "Space Fighters" was more than just a course project; it was a passion project that allowed me to combine my love for space with my growing interest in game development. The process of bringing this very simple2D space combat game to life was as enjoyable as it was educational, and I'm excited for players to experience the result of my hard work and creativity.

Whether you're a fellow space enthusiast or just looking to test the game, I hope you have as much fun playing it as I had creating it!
